Hummus Heartland is a collection of stories about Detroit’s ubiquitous Middle Eastern food culture. Radio producer Zak Rosen and photographer Marvin Shaouni join forces to tell intimate stories united by the iconic, delicious food staple – hummus.

Thousands of metro Detroiters trace their descent to the Middle East. Prepare to experience sounds, images, reflections, and recipes that unite our diverse region.

Stories will be brought to life at the opening exhibition on Jan. 18 by Kitchen Ramarj, a pop-up featuring Liberian and Lebanese cuisine. Hummus will also be provided by Garden Fresh Gourmet.
