You learn that no matter how bad your background was or how bad your past was, the future can get brighter.

All of the students who have come through Downtown Boxing Gym have graduated from high school. That’s due in large part to the tutoring program that takes place every day before training in the ring.

Coach Khali’s motto is “books before boxing”… a simple philosophy that’s paid off for many young people.

Youth boxer Jordan Beverly is doing well in school and is interested in pursuing computer engineering after he graduates. He walks around the gym with a smile. But it wasn’t always this way.
