Courtney Hurtt

Project Manager

Courtney Hurtt is the Associate Director of Product Development and Business Operations at Detroit’s public radio station,101.9 WDET.

With an academic background in anthropology and passion for developing experiences that increase cross-cultural understanding, she took on WDET’s mission to be an authentic voice of metro Detroit.

In 2014, Courtney worked with local photographer Kenny Karpov to present images and stories of Bangladeshi dress shop owners in Hamtramck. The success of this work led to an arts grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation to support a series of audio-visual installations that integrate photography and audio journalism at WDET.

Over the past two years, Courtney has managed the station’s Framed by WDET series which has brought together dozens of artists and storytellers to celebrate ethnic and cultural communities that add the vibrancy of our community– from a local group persevering the dirty blues to Southwest Detroit’s low-riders.

Courtney is a proud graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Cultures & Politics.
